Occupation: County Sheriff
About
At
this time in my career, I want to share with
you why I want to continue as Sheriff of Rock
County. As I look back over the past four
years, I can’t help but feel a since of
satisfaction. It is this feeling that drives my
passion for this position. Having the ability
to have a direct and immediate impact on my
community’s safety is one of many parts of
being Sheriff that I enjoy. Unlike many other
management jobs, I have the ability to act in a
very timely manner. Based on the need for speed
control, I can dispatch extra units to an area.
If an area is seeing an increase in crime, I
can effectively increase officer awareness.
Using of my experience and knowledge to the
best of my ability is what drives the
satisfaction in my job.
I have a lot
more to offer and look forward to another four
years of service as Rock Counties Sheriff. I am
proud of my staff, our accomplishments and in
having a role in Rock County’s protection into
the future.

Professional Goals for the 2011-2015 Term: It has been a true honor to serve as your Sheriff. While we have faced many challenges, together we have moved the Sheriff's Office forward in making Rock County safe and in starting alternatives to incarceration that have become models of success throughout the state and have saved the taxpayers over 60 million in jail construction and jail cost. In the next four years I plan to move forward with addressing mental health in our jail and in looking at mental health alternatives. We must continue to target drug traffic coming into Rock County. With our new partnership with HIDTA we will have the resources to address this serious problem. I plan to continue our efforts on educating our community on the dangers of underage drinking. We must work together to keep alcohol from our children. I will continue to provide cost efficient service that keeps our county safe, but yet is not a burden on our tax payers. I assure the residents of Rock County that under my direction the Rock County Sheriff’s Office will continue to be a professional progressive law enforcement office.
Personal Interests: I am proud to say that I have been married for over 20 years to my wife Grace. She is a part owner in a downtown Janesville business. We have 2 children who attend local schools and I personally have been a resident of Rock County for over 44 years. I am an avid hiker, camping and fishing with my family.
